Jigsaw and her adventures!!
Part of the training involves passing a stock test to make sure that she will not chase livestock or wildlife. Along with the stock test she has to pass an obedience test which includes a 10 minutes stay, 5 of which must be out of sight. Off lead heelwork over difficult terrain and a stop going away from me and coming towards me. The stop is one of the most important commands as we never know what hazards we may come across whilst working.
Jigsaws search and rescue training starts off very basic with Run outs which involves the "body" running a short distance away teasing Jigsaw with her toy and hiding behind an object or round a corner. Jigsaw is then released to chase after the person and when the handler, Jigsaw and the body are together Jigsaw gets to play with her toy and has a big game.
The toy that Jigsaw has for search and rescue only get used for search and rescue and nothing else. It must be a special toy that she wants as that will be her rewarding for finding a missing person.
